Senior Engineer - Design Enablement (Design Manual)

About the role

This position sits in the RF Design Enablement team, focused on Ground Rule Validation (GRV). The GRV team works with the Design Manual Engineering (DME) team to create and support the design rules that form part of the Process Design Kits (PDKs) supplied by GlobalFoundries. The team is international, working with manufacturing sites in the US, Germany and Singapore, and is active in innovation and patent submissions.

Key responsibilities

• Work with Program Managers, Manufacturing teams, customer engineers and benchmarking teams to identify the key technological features that must be controlled by design rules.
• Create layout designs of experiment (DoE) and design test structures delivered on test vehicles.
• Analyse silicon data rigorously and communicate the conclusions to design rule engineers and integration teams.
• Champion modifications of process or design rules based on data to optimise the technology portfolio.
• Perform GRV validation of transfer technologies to ensure design rules are compatible with each fabrication line.
• Follow environmental, health, safety and security requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, materials science, solid-state physics or another relevant engineering discipline.
• Preferred: MS or PhD in a relevant discipline, and 0-2 years of semiconductor experience in device, process integration or unit process areas.
• Strong data analysis, data mining and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Required skills

• Understanding of semiconductor fabrication flow, nanofabrication, solid-state and semiconductor device physics, and DOE methodology.
• Familiarity with EDA tools such as Cadence Virtuoso and Calibre (DRC, LVS) is a big plus.
