Senior Manager, Alternative Investments

About the role

The Group Alternatives Investments (GAI) team within GCIO sets the framework for investment due diligence and ongoing performance monitoring of private alternative investment funds, including private equity, private real estate, private infrastructure and private credit. This Senior Manager supports the evaluation of private market opportunities, monitors portfolios and helps improve due diligence and governance processes.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate private market opportunities across private equity, private credit, infrastructure and real estate, reviewing investment materials, transaction documents and due diligence reports.
• Coordinate discussions with investment managers, sponsors, advisers and internal stakeholders, and support investment, legal, tax and operational due diligence.
• Track and follow up on outstanding due diligence items, escalate them where necessary and help prepare investment recommendations for internal review.
• Monitor portfolio performance, developments and market updates, support periodic portfolio reviews and management reporting, and maintain engagement with investment managers and portfolio companies.
• Contribute to improving due diligence, monitoring and governance frameworks, and help maintain due diligence records, databases and monitoring tools.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or a related field.
• Experience in private markets investing, investment due diligence, portfolio monitoring and research.

Required skills

• Good understanding of private equity, private credit, infrastructure and/or real estate investments.
• Familiarity with investment, legal, tax and operational due diligence processes.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, and ability to synthesise information across multiple workstreams.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication and organisational skills, with high attention to detail.
