Senior Manager – Clinical Governance & Quality

About the role

The Institute of Mental Health is seeking a Senior Manager to lead its Clinical Governance & Quality (CGQ) department. In this senior position you will oversee administrative functions that support a range of clinical quality and assurance programmes, working closely with senior management, clinical chiefs, doctors and frontline staff.

Key responsibilities

• Provide secretariat support to the Quality & Value Council and other clinical quality and governance committees.
• Oversee data management and statistical analysis of incident reporting systems and clinical quality indicators for committees and workgroups.
• Manage the Clinical Audit & Documentation Standards Committee, ensuring effective secretariat support and timely audit completion.
• Review, draft and vet Medical Board work instructions and policies.
• Support the management of Serious Reportable Events (SREs) and coordinate medico‑legal case reviews, handling relevant medical records securely.
• Assist with clinical quality initiatives such as the Value Festival, Joint Commission International (JCI) audits and Ministry of Health hospital licensing audits.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a healthcare‑related discipline.
• 8–10 years of experience in healthcare quality, preferably clinical quality.
• Strong critical and analytical thinking, problem‑solving abilities and resilience under pressure.
• Excellent written English communication skills.
• Good interpersonal skills, team‑oriented and detail‑focused.
