Senior Principal Engineer, Consumer Experience & Integrity

About the role

Grab is looking for a Principal Engineer to join its Consumer Experience & Integrity (CXI) organisation, which spans Trust, Safety, Identity, SuperApp architecture, Loyalty & Subscriptions, Agentic Customer Support, Communications, Home Page Personalisation and Growth. The role is a senior individual contributor with an organisation-wide mandate: transform how the company engineers with AI, raise the architectural bar for large-scale distributed systems and create common platforms that let teams move faster with greater autonomy. You will report to the Head of Technology, Integrity & COREX.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the shift from isolated AI tools to an AI-native engineering model, embedding AI and autonomous agents across the software development lifecycle and using GenAI to design evaluation frameworks, guardrails and knowledge systems.
• Provide architectural leadership for high-throughput, highly available distributed systems, using AI-assisted design tools to solve problems of scalability, reliability, resilience, performance, security and cost.
• Identify shared platform primitives across mobility, food delivery, e-commerce, financial services and digital products, accelerating platform design, documentation and adoption with GenAI.
• Establish reference architectures, engineering principles, reusable patterns and technical guardrails so teams can make independent decisions.
• Act as a trusted technical voice for senior engineers, engineering leaders and product leaders, shaping long-term technical strategy and representing CXI engineering standards.

Required profile

• 15+ years of software engineering and system design experience, with at least 5 years in a principal engineer or architect role at large-scale technology companies.
• Hands-on experience driving AI-enabled engineering transformation, including coding agents, agentic workflows, automated testing, evaluation frameworks and engineering guardrails.
• Experience architecting and scaling large distributed systems serving millions of users in production.
• Experience building or leading shared platform capabilities adopted across multiple products or business lines.
• Experience leading cross-team architectural initiatives and influencing senior engineers and engineering leaders without direct reporting authority.
