Senior Process Engineer - Etch

About the role

GlobalFoundries is looking for a Senior Engineer in Process Engineering to develop, optimize and sustain etch processes that are critical to its semiconductor fabrication technology nodes. The role calls for deep, hands-on etch technical expertise, a strategic mindset for advanced planarization solutions, and strong communication skills to work with cross-functional teams and external partners.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and modify etch process formulations, methods and tool controls to meet quality standards
• Analyze and review technical data and charts to ensure etch performance, focusing on non-uniformity, defectivity and removal rate stability
• Establish and maintain SOPs and FMEA for the etch module, and integrate etch equipment and materials to meet process specifications
• Lead recipe creation, maintenance and optimization for etch tools
• Drive continuous improvement plans and lead cross-functional teams
• Act as a technical subject matter expert, guiding and training junior etch engineers
• Collaborate with vendors and internal teams on benchmarking and cross-learning
• Solve complex, non-recurring technical problems and propose improvements to existing processes
• Contribute to patents and conference or journal publications
• Work safely and support environmental, health, safety and security requirements

Required profile

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Chemical or Materials Science Engineering or a related field
• 4 years of relevant experience in the wafer fabrication industry, with a strong focus on etch
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Organized and systematic problem solver
