Senior Staff Backend Engineer – Security Infrastructure

About the role

As a Senior Staff or Staff Backend Engineer on the Security Infrastructure team, you will build the platform that safeguards Coupang’s customer interactions. You will work on a dynamic authorization engine that detects unusual or malicious activity, protecting both customers and the company.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and iterate on the customer authentication and authorization platforms using Java and Go.
• Partner with cross‑functional teams to understand requirements and drive platform adoption.
• Design and build scalable, reliable backend APIs for the dynamic authorization engine.
• Investigate and resolve critical system issues, raising operational excellence.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field with 8+ years of software development experience (or 6 years with an advanced degree).
• At least 2 years of experience leading technical projects.
• Hands‑on experience designing large‑scale distributed systems and delivering mission‑critical services.
• Proficiency in one or more of C++, Java, Go.
