Senior Stowage Planner

About the role

Maersk is seeking a Senior Stowage Planner to design safe, efficient vessel stowage plans that keep global trade moving. You will work in a dynamic, international environment, collaborating with diverse stakeholders and using advanced systems to optimise cargo placement and vessel performance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop safe and efficient vessel stowage plans, ensuring proper segregation of dangerous goods, stability, structural stress limits, balanced weight distribution and maximum crane productivity.
• Independently manage planning across multiple trade lanes, vessel segments and cargo profiles while maintaining high utilisation and cost efficiency.
• Coordinate end‑to‑end planning with terminals, regional operations, ship commands, Nautical, Network and Deployment teams.
• Identify operational risks, communicate impacts and drive mitigation actions.
• Review and improve standard operating procedures and contribute to productivity and cost‑efficiency initiatives.
• Support onboarding and development of new planners by sharing technical knowledge.

Required profile

• Approximately five years of stowage planning experience or strong sea‑going deck experience with a solid understanding of vessel operations, safety, stability and cargo considerations.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities under pressure.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills across diverse functions and cultures.
• Collaborative mindset with a willingness to guide and share knowledge.
• Adaptable, resilient and able to work non‑standard hours, including rotational night‑shift duties.
