Senior Technician, Maintenance / Manufacturing Support Engineer

About the role

Edwards Lifesciences' manufacturing teams create the tools, technologies and devices that help patients worldwide. This Senior Technician provides technical manufacturing support to Operations and Engineering, working within sewing, assembly, delivery and distribution teams. The role involves preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, documentation and coaching of technicians.

Key responsibilities

• Perform weekly preventive maintenance routines to avoid equipment downtime
• Check for equipment failures, carry out corrective actions and write incident impact assessment reports
• Run experiments and tests following protocols to validate and improve equipment and manufacturing processes, then report findings to Engineering
• Review documentation so it is properly catalogued and followed through to validation and qualification, including ECRs, SOPs, drawings and tooling
• Identify improvement opportunities and propose solutions such as redesign of equipment, tools and fixtures
• Troubleshoot basic manufacturing equipment and may lead small projects on equipment validation, investigations, testing and product disposition evidence
• Update documentation in manufacturing software such as JDE, QMS and PLM
• Coach and guide technicians and perform other incidental duties

Required profile

• Diploma or equivalent with 4 years of related experience, or associate's degree or equivalent with 2 years of related experience
• Previous manufacturing and/or medical device experience preferred
• Ability to work under limited supervision and strict attention to detail
• Adherence to company rules, including environmental health and safety and quality guidelines for clean room medical device manufacturing, and pandemic protocols

Required skills

• Good written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis and GDP (Good Documentation Practices)
• Computer skills including MS Office Suite
• Moderate knowledge of validation and preventive maintenance of production equipment
• Basic knowledge of material compatibility and moderate knowledge of electrical, mechanical, electronic, pneumatic and controls systems
