Senior Unix System Administrator

About the role

The Senior Unix Engineer will manage and maintain BCS's Unix environment, ensuring continuous availability and optimal performance of critical online payment services. The role sits within the Infrastructure Services Team of the Technology Division, supporting production, disaster‑recovery and test environments.

Key responsibilities

• Perform system administration and maintenance on Sun Solaris and Linux servers across production, DR and test environments.
• Apply OS and product‑specific security hardening, patches, and manage password/certificate renewals.
• Implement and monitor backup schedules, database archiving, and disaster‑recovery plans with regular testing.
• Provide Level‑3 technical support, incident and problem resolution according to SLA.
• Coordinate change and release activities, create deployment packages, and maintain configuration databases.
• Monitor capacity, conduct performance tuning, and document middleware platforms.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in Unix/Linux system administration.
• Proven ability to manage production, DR and test environments.
• Strong understanding of security hardening, backup/recovery, and disaster‑recovery processes.
