Senior Unix System Administrator

About the role

The Senior Unix System Administrator will manage and maintain the Unix environment that underpins BCS's critical online payment services. This role ensures continuous availability, optimal performance, and compliance of production, disaster‑recovery and test systems.

Key responsibilities

• Perform system administration and upgrades on Sun Solaris and Linux servers across production, DR and test environments.
• Implement OS hardening, security patches, and manage passwords and certificates lifecycle.
• Design and execute backup, archive, and disaster‑recovery plans, including regular DR testing.
• Provide Level‑3 technical support, incident resolution and problem diagnosis in line with SLA targets.
• Coordinate change and release activities, create deployment packages and maintain configuration databases.
• Monitor capacity, performance and conduct tuning to ensure high‑performance infrastructure.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science or related field.
• Minimum 8 years of system administration experience on Unix/Linux platforms, preferably in a financial services environment.
• Professional certifications such as Unix/Linux Certified System Administrator; public‑cloud certification is a plus.
• Willingness to provide 24/7 on‑call support and work outside regular hours for critical changes.

Required skills

• Scripting in Bash/Perl or similar for automation.
