Service and Commissioning Engineer - Industrial Refrigeration

About the role

JCI (Johnson Controls) is looking for a Service and Commissioning Engineer to troubleshoot technical issues on IREF-related products, test systems for proper function and manage service tickets for billing. The role covers medium accounts and clients with moderately complex systems, and involves leading the Remote Operations Center's infrastructure to stay at 100% uptime while meeting operational and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Commission new equipment and systems: installation verification, pre-commissioning, start-up, performance testing and optimization of industrial refrigeration systems
• Handle compressors and chillers of all types: scroll, screw, reciprocating, centrifugal, multi-stage centrifugal and absorption
• Carry out plant audits of industrial refrigeration systems and report findings and recommendations
• Provide site service and maintenance, including preventive and corrective maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, upgrades, major overhauls and replacements
• Handle ammonia, CO2, hydrocarbon gases and other industrial refrigerants safely
• Produce commissioning reports, technical documentation and training materials, and train customer operations and maintenance teams
• Travel within Southeast Asia onshore and offshore as needed, and work overseas assignments of more than one month
• Lead communication with the factory technical support team and liaise with local engineering and project teams
• Supervise subcontractors, build customer relationships and promote service, parts and product opportunities
• Complete service reports on time, minimize callbacks and warranty expenses, and maintain the highest safety standards

Required profile

• University degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum 3 years in the HVAC&R industry or relevant professional experience preferred
• Valid driving licence preferred
• Ability to work in harsh, chemical-laden environments under the sun and on 24-hour standby call-out
• Ability to work overseas for more than one month
