Social Assistance Operations Officer (12‑Month Contract)

About the role

This 12‑month contract position supports the Government Social Assistance Operations Branch in processing and managing SCFA (Student Care Financial Assistance) applications. You will work onsite in the Thomson area, ensuring applicants receive accurate subsidies and assistance.

Key responsibilities

• Process SCFA applications from Student Care Centres and assess eligibility against scheme criteria.
• Recommend appropriate subsidy levels and assistance durations.
• Manage appeals from parents, centre operators, social workers and other stakeholders.
• Process refunds for any over‑payments.
• Ensure applications are complete, liaise with stakeholders for missing information, and follow Standard Operating Procedures.
• Utilise internal systems efficiently while maintaining data accuracy.

Required profile

• Degree in any discipline.
• Strong analytical and assessment abilities to evaluate eligibility.
• Capacity to handle high‑volume workloads with attention to detail.
• IT‑savvy and able to adapt quickly to new systems.
• Independent worker who also thrives in a team environment.
• Proactive, diligent and able to multitask in a fast‑paced setting.
