Software Engineer (Python)

About the role

We are looking for a Software Engineer to design, develop and maintain Python‑based desktop applications for a client that provides advanced semiconductor solutions. The role involves creating user‑friendly tools for engineering and technical teams, integrating databases and automating data workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Python desktop applications used in engineering and testing environments.
• Build graphical user interfaces to manage data, configure systems and visualise test results.
• Implement MySQL database solutions for efficient storage, retrieval and processing of data.
• Create automated tools and scripts to streamline data collection, analysis and reporting.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to translate technical requirements into functional software.
• Troubleshoot issues, optimise performance and enhance existing functionalities.
• Prepare and maintain design specifications, technical documentation and user guides.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of software development experience with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and capacity to work independently as well as within cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• Proficient in Python programming.
• Experience with MySQL database integration and SQL queries.
• Desktop GUI development using PyQt or PySide.
• Knowledge of C/C++ (advantageous).
• Familiarity with automated testing, data acquisition or engineering software applications.
