Special Education Teacher (Ang Mo Kio)

About the role

Responsible for planning and delivering quality, student‑centered instruction for learners with special needs, supporting their academic, social and functional development. The role focuses on creating an inclusive learning environment that promotes growth and independence.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver individualized and group instructional programs for students with special needs, ensuring alignment with each learner's IEP.
• Adapt teaching strategies and materials to meet diverse learning and developmental needs, incorporating multi‑sensory approaches.
• Create a safe, structured and supportive learning environment that encourages student participation and confidence.
• Monitor, assess and document students' progress and development through regular observations, assessments and reports.
• Collaborate with parents, caregivers and multidisciplinary professionals to support students' holistic growth and coordinate interventions.

Required profile

• Recognized Diploma in Special Education, Education or a Post‑Graduate Diploma in Education (minimum qualification).
• Prior experience with students with Mid Intellectual Disabilities (MID) is preferred, demonstrating ability to tailor instruction.
• Experience handling Numeracy/Literacy, Physical Education, WPLN, Science, HSR, SEL/CCE and Vocational Guidance is an advantage, showing breadth of subject knowledge.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with stakeholders.
