Staff Nurse / Scrub Nurse – Operating Theatre

About the role

Raffles Medical Group is seeking a qualified Staff Nurse / Scrub Nurse to join its operating theatre team. You will play a pivotal role in preparing the surgical environment and assisting surgeons to ensure safe and efficient procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain the operating theatre, instruments, equipment and sterile field before each surgery.
• Perform surgical hand scrubbing and adhere to strict aseptic and infection‑control practices.
• Coordinate and set up surgical instruments, consumables and supplies according to the daily list and surgeon preferences.
• Assist surgeons during operations by anticipating needs and passing instruments promptly.
• Monitor patient condition throughout the procedure and support safe conduct.
• Conduct counts of instruments, sponges and needles before and after surgery.
• Provide pre‑operative and post‑operative patient care as required.
• Assist with patient transfer to recovery or post‑anaesthesia care units.
• Maintain cleanliness, functional readiness, inventory and equipment checks of the theatre.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anaesthetists, circulating nurses and other healthcare professionals.
• Follow departmental policies, safety protocols and patient confidentiality standards.

Required profile

• Registered with the Singapore Nursing Board.
• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a major operating theatre.
• Proven experience assisting surgeons; scrub‑trained nurses are an advantage.
• Candidates with additional experience may be considered for an OT Nurse Clinician role.
