Staff Scientist / Manager (Solution Integration)

About the role

Illumina is hiring a Manager/Staff Scientist in its Applications and Customer Enablement (ACE) team. You will lead a team of scientists supporting strategic customer engagements across the region, guide priorities, coordinate cross-functional activities and ensure delivery of customer-focused workflow solutions. You will work closely with regional and global partners to shape strategy, represent the ACE team in the region and drive initiatives that accelerate adoption of Illumina technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of scientists in a collaborative, high-performing culture.
• Provide leadership in workflow integration, automation, informatics and LIMS-enabled solutions.
• Partner with ACE leadership to define priorities, align resources and execute regional and global objectives.
• Represent the ACE team and act as the main link between commercial, product development, bioinformatics, operations and customer-facing teams.
• Drive planning, execution, tracking and communication of customer projects and internal development initiatives.
• Build and maintain relationships with key customers, collaborators and key opinion leaders, and turn their needs into feedback for product development.
• Support reference workflows and their implementation across laboratory, automation, informatics and LIMS components.
• Present team capabilities, project outcomes and strategic initiatives internally and externally.
• Support customer engagements, training and collaborative projects, including occasional travel.

Required profile

• Demonstrated leadership and people management experience in a customer-facing scientific, technical or product development environment.
• Experience leading complex technical projects and aligning priorities across teams in a matrixed organisation.
• Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to balance multiple priorities, manage ambiguity and deliver in a fast-paced environment.
• Typically requires a PhD or equivalent experience in a scientific, engineering, bioinformatics or related discipline; prior people management experience is advantageous.

Required skills

• Genomics workflows, NGS, automation, LIMS, bioinformatics and data analysis.
• High-throughput laboratory and informatics processes, workflow integration and process improvement.
• Knowledge of genomics and emerging omics applications (proteomics, epigenetics, spatial biology) is desirable.
