Staff Software Engineer, Lending

About the role

Airwallex, the AI-native financial operating system used by more than 675,000 businesses, is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for its Lending team in Singapore. You will architect, design and build secure, scalable systems powering the lending platform, enabling clients to embed and consume credit products, and lay the technical foundation for future financing products. You will work from the Singapore office five days a week.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design reviews, advise on systems architecture and mentor engineers to raise code quality.
• Champion resilient distributed-systems design, automated testing, observability and engineering practices that improve reliability, scalability, security and delivery efficiency.
• Build and maintain secure, scalable, well-documented APIs that let clients embed credit products.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver lending solutions and support expansion into new financing products.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
• Seven or more years of hands-on software engineering experience, with strong exposure to CI and quality engineering.
• At least two years in a technical leadership role, mentoring engineers and defining engineering strategy.
• Proven experience building backend systems, RESTful APIs, and high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems at scale.
• Preferred: experience in financial services, lending, payments or credit products, SaaS platforms, and embedded finance for enterprise clients.

Required skills

• Java or Kotlin with Spring / Spring Boot; other language backgrounds welcome.
• Docker and Kubernetes; cloud experience with GCP or AWS (EC2, RDS, ELB, CloudFront).
• Observability tooling such as Splunk, Grafana and Prometheus.
• Domain-driven design and event-driven architectures.
