Synthetic Flight Instructor – Airbus Type Rating Trainer

About the role

The Synthetic Flight Instructor (SFI) will train airline crews transitioning to Airbus aircraft, delivering both practical simulator sessions and theoretical coursework. The role ensures pilots achieve the required proficiency for safe operation of Airbus type‑rated aircraft.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver operational, technical and performance training on Flight Training Devices, Fixed Base Simulators and Full Flight Simulators.
• Conduct theoretical type‑rating, flight operations and aircraft performance courses.
• Evaluate crew progress, determine need for additional training, and certify competence.
• Participate in training programme reviews and, when appointed, perform Airbus standardisation duties.
• Assist with flight training audits, FSTD fly‑outs and qualifications.
• Support the Head of Training with ad‑hoc training tasks.

Required profile

• Current or former CPL with Frozen ATPL or a valid ATPL.
• Minimum 3,000 total flight hours, including at least 1,500 hours on multi‑pilot aircraft and 1,500 hours on Airbus fly‑by‑wire types.
• Fluent English with an ELP rating of 5 or higher.
• Previous instructor or examiner experience is an advantage.
• Completion of the Airbus Pilot Instructor Course (APIC) is a plus.
• Strong awareness of compliance risks and commitment to integrity.
