Systems Engineer (Semiconductor)

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials science and engineering solutions for semiconductors and advanced displays, is hiring a Systems Engineer in Singapore. The engineer designs, integrates and optimises complex systems, works with cross-functional teams to write system specifications, defines architectures, runs testing and mitigates risks so systems meet quality standards and customer expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Define and design complex components, modules and subsystems, and contribute to system engineering specifications across disciplines while meeting market requirement specifications.
• Coordinate with project marketing and management on subsystem requirements, and lead architecture brainstorming to narrow down to a final subsystem architecture.
• Analyse subsystems in depth, help create architectural concepts and evaluate them to recommend the best system approach.
• Build and qualify prototypes of new designs or procure subsystems from outsourced suppliers and test them against detailed specifications.
• Troubleshoot difficult engineering problems such as serviceability and manufacturability, and support system integration during assembly and final testing.
• Run and coordinate tests against internal and industry-accepted reliability specifications, making design or operational changes as needed.
• Support projects mixing electrical, mechanical, physics, algorithm and software design, and give remote and onsite support to field support personnel.

Required profile

• PhD, Master's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
• Strong knowledge of operating systems, databases, networking and hardware.
• Ability to solve problems and analyse technical issues, and to explain technical information to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to manage system projects from start to finish.

Required skills

• Proficiency in relevant tools and software such as CAD software and simulation tools.
