Technical Specialist (Electrical Technical Associate)

About the role

Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD), a global medical technology company, is hiring a Technical Specialist (Electrical Technical Associate) at its Tuas plant in Singapore. The role provides technical expertise to support manufacturing, covering machine enhancement, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of machines, project execution, accountability on production waste and quality of machine tool operations, and overall technician resource management. It is a permanent full-time position on a rotational 12-hour day shift (7am to 7pm or 7pm to 7am) with a 3/4/4/3 pattern.

Key responsibilities

• Execute and/or lead production output and machine enhancements, and manage preventive maintenance effectively
• Facilitate meetings with engineers or subject matter experts to identify the root cause of deviations and ensure successful manufacturing
• Observe Good Manufacturing Practices and quality systems

Required profile

• NITEC or diploma in an engineering field
• 2 to 5 years of hands-on experience in preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs and maintenance of machines and equipment
• Strong background in mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of machinery and equipment
• Basic electrical knowledge, able to check basic machine component wiring and connections
• Willingness to work overtime and flexibility to switch between day and night shifts if production needs change
• Singaporean citizens or permanent residents only

Required skills

• Basic PLC knowledge is an advantage
• Mechanical systems such as cam systems, linkages and machine mechanisms
• Pneumatic systems and components
• Basic electrical systems and components such as sensors, motors and switches
• Mechanical drawing interpretation and AutoCAD
