Technical Specialist (Technical Associate)

About the role

Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD), a global medical technology company, is hiring a Technical Specialist (Technical Associate) at its Tuas Plant in Singapore. The role provides technical expertise to support manufacturing, covering machine enhancement, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of machines, project execution, accountability on production waste and quality of machine tool operations, and overall technician resource management. Candidates must commit to night shifts (7pm to 7am, pattern 3/4/4/3); during training they work day shifts (7:00am to 4:00pm).

Key responsibilities

• Maintain machines to meet production output and metrics such as quality and waste.
• Perform preventive maintenance (cleaning, servicing, replacing parts).
• Troubleshoot machines to meet production targets, safety and quality standards.
• Initiate, implement and follow up on machine enhancement and project assignments.
• Write standard work instructions and procedures for assigned operations or processes.
• Implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Train and coach technicians and new hires on machine operation and adjustment skills.
• Assist engineers or subject matter experts on continuous improvement activities.

Required profile

• 1-2 years of experience in electrical aspects, electrical control and automation.
• Ability to commit to 12-hour night shifts (7pm to 7am) on a 3/4/4/3 pattern.
• Basic knowledge of electrical hardware (HMI, motor and controller) and industry vision systems (e.g., Cognex, Keyence).

Required skills

• Ability to interpret electrical or electronics wiring and schematic diagrams.
• Ability to interpret pneumatic diagrams.
• Troubleshooting of machinery issues related to electrical, electronic and pneumatic components.
• Sound knowledge of sensors (reflective, proximity) and switches for assembly line applications.
• Basic knowledge of PLCs (e.g., Omron or Allen Bradley) is an advantage.
