Trade Operator (Bulk)

About the role

This position is within an independent trading firm that specializes in the physical trading of dry bulk commodities such as coal, iron ore and copper concentrate. Reporting to the Head of Operations, the Trade Operator will manage end‑to‑end trading operations, ensuring contractual terms are executed accurately and risks are minimized.

Key responsibilities

• Review and verify sales and purchase contracts for dry bulk cargoes.
• Coordinate vessel nominations, shipping logistics and monitor shipment progress.
• Prepare and manage Letters of Credit with banks and customers, ensuring compliance with contractual and LC requirements.
• Handle invoicing, laytime and demurrage/dispatch calculations.
• Oversee receivables, payables and support month‑end cash‑flow processes.

Required profile

• Degree in Business or a related discipline.
• 3–6 years of experience in physical bulk trade operations within a commodities trading firm.
• Strong knowledge of marine logistics, Incoterms and laytime/demurrage.
• Experience with trade documentation, especially Letters of Credit.
• Ability to manage multiple cargoes in a fast‑paced environment and work with trading, shipping and finance teams.
