Vice President, Credit Management, Insurance

About the role

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) is recruiting a Vice President, Credit Management, Insurance for its Singapore office. The role covers a portfolio of insurance clients and advises the Business on counterparty transaction proposals, with minimal supervision and the expectation of progression within the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate credit applications, internal ratings and transaction proposals for new or existing insurance clients across APAC, challenging assumptions and conclusions where appropriate
• Review transaction material, give clear guidance on policy and risk appetite, and influence transaction structures and facility terms to mitigate risk
• Engage early on potential transactions, present them to ICD senior management and attend deal screening committees
• Take part in term sheet, loan/trade documentation and ISDA/CSA reviews, influencing credit terms from a risk and commercial standpoint
• Monitor the allocated portfolio and clients by client, sector and country, flagging issues and proposing mitigating actions
• Support new initiatives, help develop credit and policy guidelines and contribute to change initiatives and regional projects
• Coach and mentor ICD colleagues and build trusted relationships across divisions and jurisdictions

Required profile

• At least 7 years of financial sector experience, including 3 years in insurance portfolio coverage
• Proven experience analysing and recommending on credit proposals for life insurers, non-life insurers and reinsurers in Asia and/or Oceania
• Experience with M&A, insurance fund hedging, insurer capitalisation and/or impaired loans viewed favourably
• Strong academic record (graduate or postgraduate)
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with confidence at all levels and cultural sensitivity

• Analysis and documentation of traditional lending, trade finance, structured transactions, derivatives and securities financing
