Visiting Principal Research Fellow (International Law, Central Asia)

About the role

The Centre for International Law (CIL) at the National University of Singapore seeks an outstanding scholar to join as a Visiting Principal Research Fellow. The role focuses on international law issues related to Central Asia and the broader Eurasian region, supporting CIL’s mission to enhance regional influence in international law.

Key responsibilities

• Strengthen CIL's academic partnerships with universities, governments, international organisations, and research institutions across Central Asia and neighbouring regions.
• Develop research initiatives, conferences, workshops, executive training programmes, and policy dialogues on Central Asia’s growing importance in international affairs.
• Contribute to CIL's work on peace and security, regional cooperation, connectivity, and contemporary challenges to international law.
• Undertake high‑quality research in public international law with expertise in Central Asia and the wider Eurasian region.
• Support the development of TRILA and other CIL programmes by enhancing scholarly engagement with Central Asia.
• Participate in postgraduate supervision, mentoring, and capacity‑building activities.

Required profile

• PhD degree in public international law or a related field.
• Strong track record of outstanding research accomplishments within the international research community.
• Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, and management capabilities.
• Evidence of successfully directing research projects or academic initiatives.
• Experience in course development and teaching in the relevant field.
