AMHS Engineer

About the role

The AMHS Engineer will join SSMC's Automation & Systems (AMHS & Support) department to ensure reliable material flow in a semiconductor fab environment. You will work closely with production, engineering, and vendor teams to minimise downtime and optimise system performance.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain AMHS performance to maximise uptime.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and software failures.
• Provide technical support during AMHS incidents.
• Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules.
• Coordinate system upgrades and migrations with vendors and internal stakeholders.
• Manage spare‑parts inventory and critical component replacements.
• Analyse system data to identify trends, bottlenecks, or inefficiencies.
• Support layout changes and material‑flow improvements with manufacturing and planning teams.
• Lead or support projects such as new equipment installation, software updates, and capacity expansion.
• Interface with vendors for procurement, commissioning, and support agreements.
• Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Collaborate with IT, Equipment Engineering, and Facilities for system integration.
• Train technicians and operators on system usage and troubleshooting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Computer Engineering or related field.
• 2–5 years of experience with AMHS in a manufacturing or automation environment.
• Experience with semiconductor cleanroom AMHS systems (OHT, stockers, buffer systems) is preferred.
• Ability to work at height using ladders, mobile platforms and safety harness.
• Willingness to work independently or in a team on standard or swing shifts.

Required skills

• AMHS platforms (e.g., Muratec, Daifuku, SSI Schaefer).
• Industrial control systems, PLCs and MCS.
• Automation protocols such as SECS/GEM.
• Preventive maintenance and system upgrade procedures.
• Spare‑parts inventory management.
• Data analysis for performance optimisation.
• Vendor management and equipment commissioning.
• Cleanroom AMHS equipment (OHT, stockers, buffer systems).
• Continuous improvement methodologies.
