Application Engineer – Automotive Aftermarket

About the role

The Application Engineer for the Automotive Aftermarket Division will combine technical expertise with customer‑focused solutions to help body‑shop partners improve profitability. You will work across several Asian markets, providing hands‑on support, training, and product demonstrations.

Key responsibilities

• Showcase 3M product, process and digital solutions to increase profitability for body‑shop customers.
• Provide timely technical and application expertise to customers in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines and Taiwan.
• Manage relationships with OEMs, end‑users and distributor partners.
• Deliver hands‑on product demonstrations and training for large internal and external groups.
• Collaborate with product development, channel partners and business teams to create practical customer solutions.
• Develop and implement customer‑facing technical collateral and training content.
• Support and troubleshoot sales professionals and end‑users during new product setups.
• Conduct field testing, new product evaluations, and benchmark competitive offerings.

Required profile

• Technical diploma or apprenticeship with relevant qualifications (Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering or business is a plus).
• Minimum 5 years experience in the collision‑repair industry or related industrial markets.
• Experience with automotive calibration and diagnostic equipment.
• Background in application engineering, technical service, training or technical sales.
• Advanced computer skills (MS Office suite).
• Fluent English; Mandarin Chinese preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Strong problem‑solving, analytical and “can‑do” attitude.
