Aquaculture Research Technician

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Aquaculture Research Technician to join our Research & Technology Development team on a research farm located on St John’s Island. The role supports feeding trials, R&D experiments and animal welfare while working closely with researchers and technical leads to generate reliable data for new aquaculture nutrition solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily checks on trial animals to ensure proper feeding, water availability and health status.
• Implement feeding trial protocols, monitor progress and record accurate daily observations.
• Coordinate sourcing, delivery and management of animals and trial feeds, including transport and biosecurity compliance.
• Document animal care records, facilitate weighing of trial animals and feeds, and report any protocol deviations.
• Assist in pre‑trial preparations, post‑trial data reviews and maintain equipment and facility cleanliness.
• Follow all animal welfare, safety and farm SOPs.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Animal Husbandry, Agriculture or related field.
• 1‑3 years of experience in aquaculture operations or research settings.
• Willingness to work on a rotating weekend schedule (5 days work, 2 days off).
• Physically able to handle farm activities, including lifting, equipment handling and extended standing.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to animal welfare.
