Architect - Upgrading Programmes

About the role

The Upgrading Programmes Section of the Housing Development Board (HDB) is recruiting an Architect to take part in the upgrading and rejuvenation of HDB Towns and housing estates. The role also involves reviewing strategic policies and studies that affect existing HDB developments.

Key responsibilities

• Review strategic policies and studies affecting existing HDB developments, with the aim of preserving community ties, transforming the physical environment and maintaining older towns and estates.
• Conduct site and technical feasibility studies for various upgrading programmes.
• Coordinate projects and implement upgrading programmes for HDB Towns and housing estates.
• Formulate design briefs, prepare materials and brief advisers, grassroots groups and residents.
• Participate in or lead Townhall meetings, Working Committee meetings, Community Walks and similar events.
• Plan, document and develop best practices and processes for adoption by stakeholders.
• Undertake other ad-hoc studies.

Required profile

• Relevant education in Architecture, recognized under the Board of Architects Singapore.
• At least 3 to 5 years of working experience in the local building industry.
• Able to work independently and in a team, within tight deadlines.

Required skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to propose practical solutions for renewing existing HDB developments.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, presentation and written skills.
