Assistant Cook

About the role

The Assistant Cook supports the kitchen team by preparing ingredients, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring the Cook has everything needed for smooth operations. This role involves hands‑on food preparation, inventory handling, and basic menu development in a fast‑paced restaurant environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Cook with food preparation tasks such as cleaning, cutting, chopping, and peeling ingredients.
• Clean and sanitise food preparation areas in line with hygiene and safety standards.
• Wash, disinfect, and store kitchen utensils and equipment properly.
• Buy, weigh, and store ingredients and food supplies.
• Operate kitchen appliances and tools including cutters, knives, mixers, and ovens.
• Manage inventory, unload supplies, and organise the storeroom.
• Participate in programmes aimed at improving service quality and staff productivity.
• Maintain clean work areas, utensils, and equipment.
• Develop new menu items and improvise existing dishes while controlling food costs.

Required profile

• Professional level with ability to work shift schedules.
• Capability to cook North Indian cuisine.
• Attention to detail and adherence to health‑and‑safety standards.

Required skills

• Food preparation techniques (cutting, chopping, peeling).
• Knife handling and use of kitchen cutters.
• Operation of kitchen appliances (mixers, ovens).
• Inventory management and stock handling.
