Assistant Director – Administration (School of CEE)

About the role

The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at NTU is seeking an Assistant Director to lead its administrative functions. Reporting to the Chair, you will oversee the day‑to‑day operations that support teaching, research and partnership activities across the school.

Key responsibilities

• Translate academic and strategic priorities into operational plans with clear ownership and timelines.
• Directly manage functional heads in HR, Finance, IT, Research & Partnerships, Graduate Studies, Undergraduate Affairs, Facilities and Technical Operations.
• Set performance standards, conduct regular check‑ins and oversee appraisal processes for staff.
• Oversee budgeting, financial monitoring, reporting and resource utilisation in line with university guidelines.
• Manage space utilisation, infrastructure and renovation projects to meet teaching and research needs.
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, university safety standards, PDPA and business continuity planning.
• Represent CEE within the college’s administrative framework, attend alignment meetings and escalate issues appropriately.
• Build team capability through development programmes, succession planning and consistent management rhythms.

Required profile

• Recognised university degree in any discipline.
• 8–10 years of relevant experience, including 3–4 years of people‑management responsibility.
• Proven accountability for operational outcomes rather than just process compliance.
• Strong people‑management and financial oversight capabilities.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills across diverse stakeholder groups.
• Prior experience in a higher‑education institution is an advantage.
