Assistant Director (Defence Relations & Protocol)

About the role

The Assistant Director (Defence Relations & Protocol) coordinates with the Policy Office, foreign military attachés and embassy officials to plan and deliver hospitality programmes for senior foreign officials visiting Singapore. The role ensures that every official engagement meets the highest standards of protocol and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Vet, design and oversee the execution of hospitality plans for foreign delegations.
• Manage finances for official engagements, ensuring compliance with expenditure guidelines.
• Respond swiftly to ad‑hoc requests and changes from MINDEF/SAF principals and their guests.
• Maintain professional relationships with foreign military attachés, embassy officials and senior MINDEF/SAF officers.
• Coordinate multiple concurrent events across diverse stakeholders while adhering to established protocols.

Required profile

• Education in International Relations, Political Science, Defence & Strategic Studies, Southeast Asian Studies, History, Philosophy, Communications or Media.
• At least six years of experience in international/defence relations and/or protocol.
• Meticulous attention to detail in event planning, protocol and financial governance.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities to engage senior officials from varied cultural and diplomatic backgrounds.
