About the role

The Vice President Research (VPR) Office at NTU is seeking an experienced leader to drive and implement research strategies, coordinate university‑level research centres, and oversee administrative functions that support strategic outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Drive key strategic initiatives together with Associate Vice Presidents and Centre Directors.
• Oversee risk and governance for university‑level research centres, including review of overseas research agreements and development of mitigation measures.
• Support research strategies by gathering, mapping and analysing expertise, proposals, meeting briefs, and coordinating collaborations, reviews, visits and workshops.
• Develop policy and procedural papers for new initiatives or revisions, ensuring alignment across HR, Finance and IT.
• Facilitate opening and closing of research centres and use analytics to review performance and recommend improvements.
• Collaborate with Finance to review budget submissions and participate in committees reviewing space requests and large‑funded projects.

Required profile

• Minimum Master’s degree; Ph.D. preferred, with a research & development background relevant to NTU’s focus areas.
• 5‑10 years of leadership or management experience in a research, academic or comparable environment.
• Proven track record of strategic planning, project delivery and influencing diverse stakeholder groups.
• Strong ability to see the big picture, formulate strategies and translate them into actionable plans.
• Additional certifications in Leadership, Project Management or related fields are advantageous.
