Assistant Lead Engineer – Database Developer

About the role

The company is seeking an Assistant Lead Engineer to drive the migration and conversion of on‑premises and cloud databases to PostgreSQL on managed cloud services. You will work closely with application teams to ensure seamless integration, data integrity and minimal downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Lead migration of MSSQL and Oracle databases to PostgreSQL on AWS and Azure managed services.
• Design, develop and optimise SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers and functions across MSSQL, Oracle and PostgreSQL.
• Configure and manage cloud‑managed database services, implement backup, recovery and disaster‑recovery strategies.
• Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks, implement indexing, partitioning and query optimisation techniques.
• Produce migration runbooks, schema mappings and progress reports, and communicate risks to stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field with 8–10 years of database development and migration experience.
• Hands‑on experience with MSSQL, Oracle and PostgreSQL, including performance tuning and security compliance.
• Proven track record of migrating databases to cloud environments (AWS, Azure).
• Strong problem‑solving, documentation and communication skills.
