Assistant Manager / Manager, Bank Guarantee Operation (APAC)

About the role

ING is hiring an Assistant Manager / Manager for the Bank Guarantee (BG) / Standby Letter of Credit (SBLC) operation within its Trade Finance Operations Department, covering the APAC region. The role sits in the ING Singapore office and acts as a BG/SBLC professional coordinating with country Front Office, Legal, Client Services and Hub processing teams to ensure effective control and quality processing of BG/SBLC transactions for ING branches in APAC.

Key responsibilities

• Vet BG/SBLC texts according to ICC rules (URDG, UCP, ISP) and internal procedures and controls
• Coordinate with country stakeholders and counterparty banks to negotiate and finalise the text
• Liaise with client service and hub processing teams to ensure smooth end-to-end processing, following global policy, process instructions, control requirements, local procedures and the service level agreement
• Support claim handling, liability and revenue bookings, periodical fee billing and collection
• Run pre-processing checks such as client and counterparty validation, transaction authentication, credit facility readiness, compliance checks and checklist completion
• Handle post-processing tasks including document signing and dispatch, day-end monitoring and reconciliation, account posting accuracy and document filing
• Monitor auto-renewal terms and take timely action, validate claims against legal conditions and support payment and risk booking
• Monitor fees, including billing, payment receipts and posting, and escalate overdue items
• Review new products or deals before activation, support periodic service reviews and handle related control tasks

Required profile

• Tertiary education with at least 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in reputable banks
• Excellent coordination and communication skills
• Familiarity with local legal, regulatory and compliance policy in the APAC region is an added advantage

Required skills

• Knowledge of ICC publications URDG, UCP and ISP
• An ICC certification is a plus
