Assistant Manager / Manager – Corporate Legal

About the role

This position supports the company’s cross‑border M&A activities, joint ventures and strategic investments. You will work closely with business units to structure deals, mitigate risks and ensure compliance throughout the transaction lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Advise and support cross‑border M&A transactions, joint ventures and strategic investments.
• Collaborate with business units on deal structuring, risk mitigation and provide critical challenge on project viability.
• Coordinate legal and compliance risk analysis through due diligence with internal stakeholders and external counsel.
• Assist with post‑acquisition integration, corporate secretarial work, corporate advisory and regulatory filings such as competition law.
• Draft, review and negotiate corporate and commercial contracts.
• Support compliance matters, including advice, training, third‑party due diligence, sanctions screening and internal investigations.

Required profile

• LL.B or J.D. from a recognised institution, preferably qualified to practise law.
• At least 2 years of experience in private practice or an in‑house legal team, focusing on corporate, M&A or compliance.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication and organisational abilities.
• Proactive attitude and eagerness to learn.
• Experience in the shipping industry or familiarity with sanctions procedures is a plus.
