Assistant Vice President – Legal Counsel

About the role

We are looking for a junior legal counsel to join our Bank's Legal Department as an Assistant Vice President. Working under senior mentors, you will support a wide range of banking products and services, providing practical legal advice across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on legal aspects of credit, lending, litigation and other sensitive matters.
• Review and draft customer documentation, new product structures, financing agreements and other banking contracts.
• Maintain and improve standard templates, framework agreements and guidance notes.
• Negotiate and advise on NDAs, mandate letters, onboarding documents and other contracts on behalf of the Bank.
• Monitor legal and regulatory changes, coordinating with Compliance and internal stakeholders for implementation.
• Coordinate legal matters with APAC offices and support the Head of Legal on regional initiatives.
• Handle ad‑hoc projects and assignments as directed by the Head of Legal.

Required profile

• Law degree from a recognised university and admission to practice in a common‑law jurisdiction (e.g., Singapore, UK).
• 4‑6 years post‑qualification experience in a law firm or in‑house legal team within financial services.
• Familiarity with credit and lending documentation and common banking products.
• Strong analytical, negotiation and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work independently, balance risk with commercial considerations and deliver high‑quality work quickly.
