Assistant/Associate Professor – Chemistry Education (NSSE)

About the role

The National Institute of Education (NIE) at Nanyang Technological University seeks an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor to strengthen its Chemistry Education programme within the Natural Sciences and Science Education (NSSE) Department. The role combines teaching, research, and service to advance science education in Singapore and internationally.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deliver, and assess pre‑service and in‑service Chemistry Education courses, as well as graduate‑level Science Education modules.
• Supervise undergraduate teaching practicum projects and guide Master’s and Doctoral candidates through research, examinations, and thesis defence.
• Participate in departmental, NIE, and NTU committees, providing consultancy and professional services to schools.
• Secure research funding, publish in high‑impact international education journals, and contribute to the department’s research agenda.

Required profile

• Basic degree in Chemistry and a PhD in Education with a focus on science or chemistry education.
• Strong publication record in top‑tier, peer‑reviewed international education journals.
• Ability to teach in English and, preferably, teaching qualifications with at least five years of secondary or primary teaching experience and leadership roles.
• Post‑doctoral research experience, experience delivering professional development for teachers, and work in multilingual, multicultural settings are desirable.
• For Associate Professor candidates: sustained international reputation, high‑impact publications, major research grants, and teaching awards.
