Associate/Assistant Professor of Microbiome

About the role

The Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine at NTU seeks a tenure‑track Associate or Assistant Professor to lead cutting‑edge research and teaching in microbiome science. The successful candidate will join the Microbiome Medicine Research Programme and contribute to the School’s international research strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct high‑quality, internationally competitive research in microbiology, focusing on microbiome or microbial bioinformatics.
• Develop innovative research proposals, secure competitive grant and industry funding, and publish in peer‑reviewed journals.
• Teach and mentor undergraduate medical students and postgraduate research students using team‑based and e‑learning methods.
• Integrate microbiology science into the MBBS curriculum and ensure excellence in delivery.
• Collaborate with faculty across NTU on interdisciplinary projects related to host‑microbiome interactions, clinical trials, and bioinformatics.
• Supervise and mentor junior faculty, research staff, and graduate students.
• Participate in academic committees and fulfil administrative duties as assigned.

Required profile

• MBBS/MD and/or PhD degree(s) with relevant postdoctoral or clinical experience.
• Significant record of translational clinical research and teaching in microbiology or microbiome medicine.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and supervise research staff and students.
• Strong communication, presentation, and networking skills.
