Backend Engineer

About the role

ScienTec Consulting is looking for a Backend Software Engineer in Singapore who enjoys designing and delivering scalable, maintainable backend systems. The engineer plays a key role in building high-quality software solutions that support government initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and deploy scalable backend services using modern technologies
• Architect and implement RESTful APIs and microservices following best practices
• Prepare API and interface specifications and technical architecture documentation
• Design and implement cloud-native solutions using AWS services
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment
• Troubleshoot production issues and improve application performance, reliability and stability

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, with at least three years of professional software engineering experience
• Experience in backend software development and building enterprise-grade applications
• Proven experience with AWS cloud technologies, including Lambda and serverless architecture
• Experience with GitLab, CI/CD pipelines and Agile software development
• Experience with large language models, prompt engineering, embeddings, vector databases, RAG or AI agent workflows is highly advantageous

Required skills

• Strong programming in at least one backend technology, such as Java/Spring Boot or Golang
• AWS Lambda and serverless architecture
• GitLab and CI/CD pipelines
