Business Development Senior Manager – Venture Creation

About the role

We are looking for a driven Business Development Senior Manager to lead the translation of scientific assets into venture‑backed companies at the Experimental Drug Development Centre (EDDC) in Singapore. The role sits at the intersection of science, venture creation and capital, working closely with drug discovery teams, founders and investors.

Key responsibilities

• Identify EDDC programs with spin‑out potential and assess them from both venture creation and traditional partnering perspectives.
• Collaborate with scientific teams to define target product profiles, development strategies and value propositions aligned with investor expectations.
• Analyse competitive landscape, unmet medical needs and scalability to maximise attractiveness for fundraising or strategic partnerships.
• Lead formulation of new company plans, including indication selection, development roadmap and early financing needs.
• Mentor scientists on commercial thinking, investor engagement and company‑building fundamentals.
• Build and manage relationships with venture capital firms, corporate venture arms and early‑stage biotech investors.
• Prepare investor‑focused materials such as pitch decks and data packages.
• Support licensing, co‑development and spin‑out transactions in collaboration with A*STAR Innovation & Enterprise and legal teams.
• Manage diligence processes, including virtual data rooms, for investors and strategic partners.

Required profile

• Degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy or Medicine; PhD, MBA or advanced degree preferred.
• 2–6+ years of experience in biotech venture, business development, investment, consulting or technology commercialization.
• Exposure to venture creation, startup formation and biotech licensing.

Required skills

• Understanding of drug development pipelines and target product profiling.
• Ability to evaluate competitive landscapes and market opportunities.
• Experience in preparing investor materials and managing due‑diligence processes.
