Buyer 2 – Procurement Specialist

About the role

KLA is seeking a proactive Buyer 2 to manage the procurement of direct materials, components, and equipment supporting our semiconductor manufacturing operations. The role ensures material availability, drives cost efficiencies, and collaborates closely with suppliers and internal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Purchase direct materials, components and equipment based on MRP or reorder point triggers.
• Review planning reports to guarantee timely material supply for production.
• Negotiate pricing, rework costs and expediting fees to improve gross margin.
• Reduce material lead times through supplier cycle‑time improvements, hedging and VMI programs.
• Execute purchase orders promptly and address supplier quality, capacity or material issues.
• Communicate delivery status with suppliers and drive on‑time delivery performance.
• Participate in supplier business reviews and provide constructive feedback.
• Manage claims on ECO/EOM projects and ensure timely ECN/ECO execution.
• Collaborate with inventory analysts to minimize excess inventory and improve inventory turns.
• Conduct quarterly safety‑stock reviews to balance supply and inventory efficiency.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in buying and production planning, preferably in a low‑volume, high‑mix manufacturing environment.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work with MRP systems.
• Basic understanding of Bill of Materials (BOM) is advantageous.
