Care Associate – Sheltered Home

About the role

The Care Associate provides person‑centred support to residents of a sheltered home, ensuring their health, safety and daily living needs are met. Working under the guidance of a Staff Nurse or Enrolled Nurse, you will help promote independent living and enhance overall quality of life.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor vital signs and perform basic physiological checks on a monthly basis, reporting any concerns to nursing staff.
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADL) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) to maximise independence.
• Prepare and pack medication under supervision and provide reminders for residents with higher care needs.
• Respond promptly to alarms, medical emergencies, or crisis situations, providing first aid and contacting emergency services as required.
• Carry out night‑shift duties on a rotational basis, including roll‑call checks and escorting residents to medical appointments.
• Maintain cleanliness, prevent hoarding, and support general upkeep tasks such as meal preparation and laundry.
• Collaborate with social work and programme teams to organise activities that promote health, wellness and social skills.

Required profile

• Minimum secondary education.
• Basic proficiency in reading, writing and speaking English.
• Willingness to stay‑in and work rotational night shifts.
• Passion for helping the elderly and ability to work independently.
• Attention to detail and respect for resident confidentiality.
