Chief Engineer (CPG)

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials science and engineering solutions for semiconductors and advanced displays, is hiring a Chief Engineer (CPG) based in Singapore. The role directs an engineering group covering all issues across its business unit product line, including the design, development and implementation of complex engineering programs within budget and schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Direct an engineering group responsible for all issues across the business unit product line, including complex engineering programs, within project budgets and release schedules.
• Anticipate future needs and initiate new approaches to engineering design and development at the business unit level, with complex scope and customer impact.
• Develop long-range plans and general engineering or product-specific strategies, review engineering specifications, and interface with internal and external customers on engineering issues.
• Work with senior business group management so that programs, strategies and processes address high-value problems and align with the organization's direction.
• Provide approval guidelines and leadership to reporting engineering managers on long-term program, strategy and process design.
• Define performance metrics and report on engineering function progress against business unit goals.

Required profile

• Broad and comprehensive understanding of different systems, theories and practices.
• Industry and commercial awareness applied to drive financial and operational performance.
• Ability to lead through subordinate managers, execute segment/functional business plans and contribute to segment/functional strategy.
• Ability to resolve highly complex business problems using advanced analytical thought and judgment.
• Negotiation and influence skills at the senior executive level and in external organizations, with sensitivity to the audience.
• Understanding of Applied Materials' global Standards of Business Conduct and compliance with them.
