Civil Architect – Data Center (VP/AVP)

About the role

The Civil Architect will lead the architectural and civil design of data centre facilities, ensuring they meet mission-critical requirements for reliability, scalability and security. Working closely with structural, MEP and ICT teams, the role oversees the full lifecycle from concept through construction and operational support.

Key responsibilities

• Lead architectural design including layout, façade, internal space planning and civil works such as site grading, roads and drainage.
• Develop specifications, review detailed design drawings, models and ensure optimal white-space utilization and future expansion.
• Align designs with data centre standards (Uptime Tier III/IV, TIA‑942) and incorporate redundancy, fire separation, security zoning and airflow containment.
• Coordinate with structural, MEP and ICT teams, review contractor submissions, shop drawings and monitor construction progress.
• Manage compliance with local building codes, zoning, fire safety, environmental and sustainability certifications (e.g., Green Mark, LEED).
• Support operations with layout modifications, site inspections and resolution of architectural issues.
• Oversee external architects, consultants and contractors and present design updates to stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• More than 10 years of experience in architecture/civil design, with at least 5 years in data centre or mission-critical facilities.
• Proven experience on large-scale infrastructure projects and strong knowledge of local design standards and regulations.
• Ability to integrate architectural design with MEP systems and understand security zoning and support infrastructure.
