Clinical Coder

About the role

JurongHealth Campus, part of the National University Health System (NUHS), is hiring Clinical Coders. The role involves interpreting medical records and performing DRG coding for all inpatient discharges and procedures from Day Surgery, Dental and Endoscopy, while liaising with doctors and other healthcare professionals on coding matters.

Key responsibilities

• Complete all DRG coding so that inpatient and day surgery discharges are coded within an acceptable time frame for submission to the Ministry of Health
• Achieve 100% turnaround time for casemix coding within 14 days with an error rate of less than 4%
• Seek clarifications from clinicians for unclear cases and point out incomplete or missing medical records needed for coding
• Provide the DRG codes and clarifications required by CPFB and insurance companies within the given timeframe
• Perform basic internal audits to ensure coding accuracy and adherence to coding standards
• Carry out other ad-hoc projects or duties assigned by the manager

Required profile

• Foreign MBBS, nursing or healthcare-related degree, or diploma in nursing or equivalent
• Preferably 1 year of coding experience in a hospital setting
• Meticulous, independent, thorough, good team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Good knowledge of ICD-10-AM
