Contract AS400 Engineer

About the role

The company seeks an experienced AS400 Engineer on a contract basis to support critical financial applications across multiple global sites. You will work on both maintenance and new development, ensuring high availability and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Provide Level 2/3 support for production incidents in highly sensitive financial environments.
• Design, develop, and maintain RPG (III, IV, Free Form) and CL modules.
• Perform OS upgrades, LPAR configuration, and patch management to keep systems stable.
• Lead the design and development of post‑trade applications for trade matching, settlement and payment processing.
• Automate post‑execution operations, integrate legacy AS/400 applications with modern platforms via APIs, web services, IBM App Connect Enterprise or MQ.
• Ensure systems meet regulatory requirements for data integrity, security hardening and disaster recovery.
• Coordinate testing, approval and deployment of enhancements, including post‑deployment verification.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of technical support experience with trading or financial services applications.
• Expert‑level proficiency in implementing and managing AS400 systems.
• Deep understanding of capital markets, custody, clearing and post‑trade settlement cycles.
• Experience with high‑availability tools, backup/recovery and system performance tuning.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
