Cost Engineer - Semiconductor Manufacturing

About the role

Micron is hiring a Cost Engineer for its MSB Lean Manufacturing site. The role drives cost efficiency across High Bandwidth Memory (HBM), Component Assembly and Test, and SSD operations, working with cross-functional teams to identify, implement and govern cost improvement initiatives aligned with site and network-wide financial goals.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and introduce cost improvement programs across HBM, Multi-Chip Packages (MCP) and Low Power DRAM (LPDRAM) component assembly/test/SSD operations.
• Run month-end close activities and performance-to-plan work, including budget adherence, capex optimization targets, Free Cash Flow project deliverables and material consumption performance.
• Carry out financial competitive analysis and benchmark cost competitiveness.
• Partner with Finance on quarterly business plans, actual spending analysis and cost-per-part projections.
• Act as the link between site functional teams and central cost teams, and spread Best-Known Methods across the network.
• Share cost initiatives and performance metrics through dashboards and reporting tools.
• Use AI-assisted tools responsibly to improve efficiency, quality and effectiveness, and share AI-enabled improvements with colleagues.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Finance or a related field.
• Prior experience in cost, manufacturing, finance or operations is advantageous.
• Strong analytical, logical and critical thinking skills, and effective communication across all levels.
• Growth mindset, leadership qualities and a track record of impact are highly desirable.
• Knowledge of the semiconductor industry and Micron is an advantage.

Required skills

• Familiarity with Lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Data visualization tools such as Power BI.
• Baseline digital fluency and role-appropriate AI literacy.
