Cyber Vulnerability Researcher Intern

About the role

Many software and devices used in everyday life may contain security vulnerabilities that attackers can exploit. As a Cyber Vulnerability Researcher intern, you will research vulnerabilities in systems and software, understand how they manifest and how attackers exploit them, and look at ways to mitigate them. The internship lasts 2 to 4 months and is open to undergraduate and pre-university students.

Key responsibilities

• Research techniques and tools to discover vulnerabilities in systems and software, such as reverse engineering, code auditing and black box testing.
• Analyse vulnerabilities and assess their security impact, developing proof-of-concept demonstrations.
• Research ways to mitigate vulnerabilities and assess the effectiveness of security mitigations.
• Work on possible projects such as Windows systems, network devices, Linux systems, mobile devices and cloud systems and services (the list is non-exhaustive).

Required profile

• Strong interest in cybersecurity.
• Experience in C/C++ programming and Python.
• Knowledge of assembly (e.g. x86, ARM), reverse engineering and software vulnerabilities (e.g. buffer overflows) is highly recommended.
