Data Platform Engineer

About the role

LionsBot is looking for its first dedicated data hire to own and evolve a real‑time data platform that ingests telemetry from a global fleet of autonomous cleaning robots. This greenfield, 0→1 role will give you end‑to‑end ownership of ingestion, storage, modeling, serving and visualization of high‑volume IoT data.

Key responsibilities

• Own the complete data platform, from real‑time event ingestion to dashboards and self‑serve analytics.
• Design and implement a medallion architecture (bronze raw, silver cleaned, gold business‑ready) with clear data contracts.
• Build a semantic layer that provides a single source of truth for fleet KPIs such as cleaning hours, area covered, mission success and robot health.
• Implement data quality and observability pipelines, including freshness SLAs, validation, deduplication, outlier handling and anomaly alerts.
• Design, tune and re‑architect time‑series databases at scale (schemas, indexes, continuous aggregates, compression, down‑sampling, retention and partitioning).
• Enable self‑serve analytics for operations, product, leadership and OEM partners.
• Shape the roadmap for future capabilities such as OLAP, orchestration, transformation tooling and lakehouse patterns.

Required profile

• First‑time dedicated data platform owner comfortable with greenfield, end‑to‑end responsibility.
• Experience building real‑time streaming pipelines for high‑volume IoT telemetry.
• Strong understanding of data modeling, medallion architectures and semantic layers.
• Proven ability to design data quality, observability and anomaly‑detection systems.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑moving, small‑team environment with rapid decision‑making.
