Data Science Intern (Operations Research & Simulation Models)

About the role

The Institute of Mental Health (IMH) in Singapore is looking for interns with a background in operations research and data analytics who want to contribute to healthcare. The internship sits within the Data Science Office and involves working with an existing team of data analysts, biostatisticians and operations staff to improve the quality of insights drawn from existing clinical databases, including structured datasets. It also includes collaboration with clinicians and management on operational models of hospital processes.

Key responsibilities

• Support the development of operational and simulation models of the hospital's outpatient and inpatient services.
• Support the data collection and exploitation needed to build those operational models.
• Support the development of machine learning models required by the operational models.

Required profile

• Academic background in Operations Research, Statistics or Data Science.
• Familiarity with Markov models, discrete event simulation and agent-based modelling is necessary.

Required skills

• Experience with AnyLogic and Python is preferred.
